Charles Dickens was a crazy son of a botch who like was a master of writing long ass novels no one past the year 1960 had the time to read and of writing really compelling memorable characters. And like I remember this from a speech the greatest lit teacher ever gave me so bear with me here. Dickens’s characters were always well characterized partly bc that dude was super good at character voices. He was great at writing unique character dialogue. Like stupidly great. One of the things he would do was give each of his characters little catchphrases to fall back onto. They say it a few times and yeah man. That sure is one great sounding character Charlie
