Man… The huge lifespan differences between d&d races do nothing for me but make me sad. All I can think of is how awful and unfair it must feel for friends or lovers to have one grow old and die super early and the other goes on to live for several times the other’s lifespan. And yea I know it makes for good drama and angst, but I’m really not fond of angst like that. It just makes me sad.
Like… A human lifespan is only about 8 elf years. 8. Which means the elf, if they’re lucky, would get like 6 or so elf years with their human friend or lover before they die. How fucking sad is that.
what if: elves aren’t actually xenophobic dickbags, they just think it’s easier to only have relationships with other elves because all other options are unbearably tragic
This is literally why my dragon character begged the gods for intervention. Losing Galthur was unbearably tragic and Piper could not see that happen… Selfish? Yes. Very. He forgave piper after he found out…
