Okay, but why are soulmate AUs always so easy? Like, somehow your soulmate is always in the same area as you, or in the same country at the very least. Like, what are the odds?
I want a Klance AU where Lance is, as always, super pumped to meet his soulmate, and so he writes on his arm all the time, hoping they’ll write back. And at some point when he’s a kid, he just gets frustrated because there’s been no sign of his soulmate so he writes in huge, block, threatening letters “WILL YOU JUST TALK TO ME, YOU JERK?!”
And Keith, who’s watched these statements he can’t read appear on his arm for years, is just like, wow, okay, maybe I’ll translate this one. And when he gets Shiro to tell him what it means, he’s not only offended, but kind of upset and so all he writes back is “아니요” and nothing else (“no” in Korean).
Lance can’t fucking read it, but he’s excited that his soulmate finally wrote back. But before he can even figure out what language it is, Keith washes his arm and it’s gone. And no matter how much Lance writes, his soulmate never says anything back to him after that.
It’s clear to Lance then that they don’t speak the same language, but he keeps trying. Until some point in early high school when he finally just gives up, bitter, and all out refuses to even try and talk to his soulmate.
