The problem is some idiots doxx the wrong person and make an innocent person go through hell because then no one fact checks things until way after the fact
it’s almost like the problem is that mob justice is a terrible idea or something. can you smartasses stop insisting it’s your job to punish people you think are doing wrong? you all suck at it, in every conceivable way.

did you know this site once doxxed an admitted zoophile and animal abuser? sounds ok, doesn’t it? only problem was they doxxed the wrong person.
as it turns out the person they were trying to doxx had been using pictures they stole from someone else’s facebook for their blog. this wasn’t only a problem because this innocent person now had hundreds of self righteous cunts harassing them but mainly because they were working with animals. rescue animals, more specifically. and because this is tumblr, news reached their workplace. they lost their job over these accusations and no one trusted them around animals anymore because some idiotic call out blog on this stupid website and because no one here ever questions when someone throws an accusation out there.
an innocent person had their chances of ever working in their dream job again reduced to almost zero because of the mentality you’re defending here.so let me repeat what i said because you don’t seem to have understood me the first time:
we don’t allow mob justice because it sucks. it hardly ever hits the right people, it doesn’t follow logic and half the time it’s triggered by the dumbest fucking things anyway.leave enforcing the law to the people trained for it. there’s damn good reasons why doxxing is illegal.

How is a supposed “hard boiled old man” such a naive child that they don’t realize that an “admitted serial killer” would likely be using someone else’s life data to protect their own identity, so if you doxx the “admitted serial killer” you’d most likely be bringing down hell on some innocent person’s head, maybe someone that the “admitted serial killer” wants to destroy without it being traceable to them because they are not in fact an admitted serial killer, but they are really a jealous ex or disgruntled neighbor or classroom bully and they just want to fuck with the person who’s going to end up being doxxed?
Like, what’s more likely? “I’m a serial killer!” says the serial killer, who posts under their real name on Facebook, obviously completely unaware that it’s against the law to kill people… or, “I’m a serial killer!” says the jealous ex who made a fake Facebook account for the ex they want to destroy, well aware that making this claim while apparently posting from this identity will probably bring the full force of the law down on the person who had the absolute temerity to dump them for being a psycho asshole.
Sure, if you live next door to the serial killer and you found the bodies in their compost heap while you were chasing your soccer ball into their yard, you could be certain enough to doxx them… but at that point, call 911. Otherwise, you don’t fucking know who is real on the Internet. People fake being other people to pull psy-ops all the goddamn time.
