On Thursday a presenter from Traffic 911, an organization that rescues human trafficking victims, came and spoke to my class and talked about how viewing teen porn and cp, even fictional:

  • Is used to normalize it to young teens to convince them this kind of thing is normal and okay
  • Makes the people who view it need harder and harder porn as the starting stuff stops gratifying them
  • Directly influences the demand for trafficked teens and children

So y’know everything we’ve been trying to tell “anti-antis” for years. Fiction impacts reality and you’re both engaging in pedophilia and assisting pedophiles if you take part in drawing this shit. Js.

I love this tea.

Traffick 911 is an anti-porn organization which does not give any money or produce any resources which help actual trafficking victims.

Don’t take my word for it: their CEO is an anti-porn advocate who is on the board for several NGO’s associated with the Mormon church, their chief programs officer – the one who probably organized the school event – is a religious fundamentalist with some truly disgusting views (also obviously and vocally anti-porn), and the statistics that they cite in their programs come from Fight The New Drug, a Mormon-run pseudo-science organization that believes porn of any kind causes mental illness.

If you’re going to side with religious fundamentalists who believe all porn is evil, you should at least know that’s what you’re doing.

EDIT: upon some research, OP’s sick of people making negative additions on this post. I’m leaving this here for the sources, but I’d ask my followers that if they don’t have additional sources to add, dont reblog with negative comments. I’m here to inform, hopefully not harass.

Its not that I don’t believe this was a point in their session, my issue is that the program (i looked it up) views ALL porn as a gateway to trafficking, from sexting your significant other to viewing porn online.  They seem to be demonizing sex work in general and relating all of it to be considered trafficking.

This concerns me.

As does the people in charge of this.

Their CEO is on the board for several NGO’s associated with the Mormon church http://www.christianparenting.org/profiles/george-lynch/

And this website he’s a part of makes me want to take a shower and never get out.

the one who organizes the programs appears to be a religious fundamentalist… https://mobile.twitter.com/lindseynspeed/with_replies?lang=en

And their statistics on porn come from something called Fight The New drug which is… problematic to say the least. The “studies” they ran is pretty much pseudoscience and doesn’t follow any methodology at all to be able to provide replicable results.

Please take into consideration the things people say when they say something that agrees with you. I’m doing my best on that front as well.  Researching organizations and the people in charge of them.

wild idea here but… instead of pushing this idea that teenagers can’t be asexual bc they’re children and not wanting sex is normal, how about “if you identify as ace as a teenager but later realize you just didn’t want sex bc you were a kid and stop identifying that way, that’s okay” and realizing that doesn’t mean no one can know they’re asexual as a teenager and stop maybe telling asexual teenagers that they’re too young to be ace bc that’s really weird given that teenagers are cetainly capable of being non-asexual also you totally can’t decide something like that for someone else

‘Here is your label, you can never change it’ is one of the most toxic things I’ve ever seen and honestly is the worst parts of pretty much any community there is. It keeps people from being willing to change or even self-reflect, because once they get a label it’s impossible to free themselves from it. And it’s behind all the ridiculous ‘well at one point you said a thing that all these years later in a different context doesn’t sound all that good so you’re a bigot and everything you do is terrible’ nonsense going around this hellsite.

teenagers especially need to be able to say “this is where i’m at now, it could change later, it’s valid either way,” because they’re still evolving really fast

anyone at any time in life can discover something new about themself and no one gets to tell them what they’re feeling

YES. THANK YOU.

And fucking stop calling us pedophiles for this shit. I had sex as a teenager.  Teenagers think about sex. Knowing that this happens, and that some teens identify as ace (even if it changes) and wanting to give them words to assure them that they aren’t fucking broken is important and doesn’t make us goddamn pedophiles.
