Hey kiddos, I know Halloween is coming up so those who do the dressing up thing may be starting to prepare.
And I just wanted to let those of you who use external assistive tech for disabilities know, you don’t have to incorporate it into your costume if you can’t or don’t want to.
Like, if you want to work your wheelchair or cane or hearing aids into a costume, and you can, go for it! That’s great!
But if you don’t want to, or you can’t think of a way, that’s okay. And you don’t have to be limited to whatever character or costumes uses your same tech.
If you want to be Captain America, and you use a wheelchair, be Captain America in a wheelchair. That’s valid, and you rock it! If you have a Service Animal, and they can’t handle wearing something to go along with your costume, or even if you just don’t want to put them in a costume, don’t worry. Be a Disney Princess with a Service Dog.
You’re not required to incorporate your assistance into something, and you’re not required to justify your assistance as part of the ‘character’ you’re playing for your costume to be valid. Be whatever you want, and be it however you want.
Here they are, the long-ago-promised bonus (and softly nsfw) pages from the comic “No One Else”that @lilized and I came up with for the Reaper76 Week. Settled between Day 6 and 7, it shows what happened the night that John “Jack” (and now also Francis) Morrison decided to join the SEP.
SEPTember is almost over but I’m glad I managed to finish it in time for the event. @lilized is working on a fan fiction that it’s actually a sequel to this and for what I’ve read so far, it’s beautiful ❤
