Temeraire normally did not care one way or the other for snow. It did not bother him and he did not bother it. For the most part.
Today was different though.
He snorted, sending a plume of vapor from his nostrils and surged to his feet.
Today was new.
In a flash he ran outside of his warmed and sheltered overhang, rolling and frolicking in the snow as if he’d never had a chance to before. In a way, he hadn’t. From his birth it had been sailing and learning and war. But today he was free.

Nathaniel (no, Mandrake. He was John Mandrake!) stood over, literally over, the tiny and pitiful creature that he had summoned as practice. “You will do as I command.” He said in a commanding tone, looking over to his mentor for quick reassurance.
He received a frown.
He turned back to the imp, rage on his face as he repeated himself sharply, causing the creature to cower before him. Yes. That was good. He thought about what he wanted, what he could do. He grinned. He knew what to do. What his master would do. He raised his hand and spoke.
100 word prompts – Young Wizards (Diane Duane) – Moon dust
Dairine settled into her usual spot, protected by the spell she could cast as easily as drawing breath. So many things had happened to her and she didn’t even know where or how to even begin to untangling what happened.
Nita would be pissed if she knew Dairine had gone without her.
She kicked up a puff of dust from around her feet and watched it fall slowly back to the surface. Dairine grinned and picked up a handful and blew it out beyond her shield, taking in the sight of it racing across the moon, carried by her breath.

Eric held the bowl, sandwiched between Beth and Kory on the couch. “Pass it here, Banyon.” Beth muttered to him, reaching for the rim as she kept her eyes glued to the screen.
“You can reach it just fine,” He replied, “Its staying where it is, that way Kory doesn’t end up without any.” He turned to his right. “Right K-” He was cut off by a pair of lips. Warm, soft, elven lips. His hands left the bowl to cup Kory’s face, and when they broke apart, Beth was on Kory’s other side, bowl of popcorn firmly in her lap.
100 word prompt – Winding Circle (Tamora Pierce) – Dandelion
Briar still remember his lessons. Still remembers what Rosethorn had taught him so long ago. Weeding still hurts, but he does it for the rest of his garden.
She would be proud if she were still around, watching him on hands and knees pulling out the small plants crowding around his own. He reached for one, and then pulled his hand back.
The golden head of the dandelion swayed with the breeze and he watched for a long moment before he went to his tool shed and carefully excavated it from its spot and gave it it’s very own place.
