On Thursday a presenter from Traffic 911, an organization that rescues human trafficking victims, came and spoke to my class and talked about how viewing teen porn and cp, even fictional:
- Is used to normalize it to young teens to convince them this kind of thing is normal and okay
- Makes the people who view it need harder and harder porn as the starting stuff stops gratifying them
- Directly influences the demand for trafficked teens and children
So y’know everything we’ve been trying to tell “anti-antis” for years. Fiction impacts reality and you’re both engaging in pedophilia and assisting pedophiles if you take part in drawing this shit. Js.
I love this tea.
Its not that I don’t believe this was a point in their session, my issue is that the program (i looked it up) views ALL porn as a gateway to trafficking, from sexting your significant other to viewing porn online. They seem to be demonizing sex work in general and relating all of it to be considered trafficking.
This concerns me.
As does the people in charge of this.
Their CEO is on the board for several NGO’s associated with the Mormon church http://www.christianparenting.org/profiles/george-lynch/
And this website he’s a part of makes me want to take a shower and never get out.
the one who organizes the programs appears to be a religious fundamentalist… https://mobile.twitter.com/lindseynspeed/with_replies?lang=en
And their statistics on porn come from something called Fight The New drug which is… problematic to say the least. The “studies” they ran is pretty much pseudoscience and doesn’t follow any methodology at all to be able to provide replicable results.
Please take into consideration the things people say when they say something that agrees with you. I’m doing my best on that front as well. Researching organizations and the people in charge of them.
