Because there’s a different between laughing AT us and laughing WITH us. And I see a lot of popular posts on here laughing at (sometimes genuinely shitty) aspecs, and that’s nice and all, but you’re not only making them out to be a joke. You’re making every aro, ace, and aspec out to be a joke. You’re amplifying the voices of shitty aspecs, and ignoring the voices of good aspecs, and giving this website at large the impression that we’re ALL just shitty, awful people.

It’s even worse when the OP is a questioning aspec, or using aspec terminology, or just talking about their own aspec experiences, and people come onto their post with some unnecessary witty comment so they can be the Local Funny Man and blow up the post for laughs.

Like … my God. People on here are all on the Language-Is-Ever-Evolving Train until it’s funny to you. Until words made by aspecs, FOR ASPECS, pop up on your dash and it just tickles your funny bone.

People see those posts and they think it’s an okay thing to do. They think making fun of aspecs is what they’re SUPPOSED to do. Those jokes diminish our worth.

I get it’s funny (it’s not, actually), but whether it’s funny or not doesn’t matter. The consequences of those jokes do matter. So unless it’s clear that the joke is harmless, just don’t reblog it please? Thank you.
