Do you have any recs for PVC enclosures then? Or would I find them in your FAQ? (I’m on mobile rn so I can’t look but I will when I get back on my computer, sorry if this question is obnoxious)

AP plastics seem to come highly recommended. @i-m-snek could better help with suggestions 🙂

here’s a list of pvc enclosures! i was doing research on this while i was deciding what kind of enclosure i wanted for my sneks, and these are the ones that came up (all US-based, though, I believe?):

Animal Plastics: very good quality, very reasonable pricing, very good customer service, very long shipping time (up to several months, though a few sizes are ‘quick ship’). Can add-on things like lighting, basking shelves, cage stands, sealant, casters. Cannot add-on RHP (just heat tape). Stackable. This is the kind I would like to get for my current babies once I save up enough, and the brand I’ve seen recommended most.

PVC Cages: very good quality, very reasonable pricing, very good customer service, very reasonable shipping time (several weeks, I think). Can add-on lighting, perches, RHP, etc. Stackable. This is the kind I currently have for my adult ball python, and I would recommend them again. I was on a strict budget, so I got a 48 x 24 x 24 (the biggest standard size) with an upgraded RHP but no other frills, which I regret. Spend a lil more and get some lighting and perches. Your snake will appreciate them. (This cage, unlike an Animal Plastics cage, does not come with sealant. You will have to research and find your own if you are housing your snake on damp substrate (aka, anything other than paper/aspen).)

Vision Cages: good quality, a bit more expensive than AP or PVC cages, very reasonable shipping time (several weeks). Can add-on lighting only; design makes sealant unnecessary. Stackable. Good for CHEs or heat lamps, not so good for RHP (not impossible to place one, just harder to figure out how to put it). Stackable. I’ve seen mixed reviews about these; some people really love them; some people really hate them.

NPI Cages: I don’t know much about quality, very cheap, very fast shipping time (3 – 10 business days, according to their policy). Some are stackable. Not much in the way of add-ons; lighting only, I believe. I haven’t seen these mentioned often enough to comment on quality.

Showcase Cages: not sure about quality, expensive, very fast shipping. VERY pretty cages though! Nice display stands sold as well. Stackable. Not much in the way of add-ons. I haven’t seen many reviews of these, probably because of the price. One review stated they might not be good for strong animals that could break the glass or snakes which could escape via hole in the cage, but I can’t verify that for sure. (And neither of those things would likely be an issue with smth like an adult ball python, tbqh.)

Boaphile Plastics: I’ve heard awful things about customer service and quality (complaints of warping, overheating and injuring animals, fire, etc), but there are people who like them, and since I can’t recall sources off the top of my head, I’m reluctant to completely damn them. Still, I’d make sure to carefully research reviews before getting one.  Very reasonable prices. Stackable. Heating and lighting add-ons, pedestals, etc. Not sure of shipping speed.

Boamaster: Haven’t seen these mentioned much and the website is a bit confusing, but what I have seen mentioned is generally good in terms of quality, price and customer-service, with a few complaints here and there. They also sell melamine cages, if you’re into that.

Constrictors Northwest Pro-Line Cages: I haven’t heard much about these, but what I have heard is good. Very reasonable prices. The website is not very clear on what comes with the cage or assembly options (ie, door types & materials, ventilation, stackable, etc), so you’d have to call to inquire more about that.

Monster Cages: I’ve heard some awful things about customer service and pricing mix-ups with this one. Putting it on the list because it exists, but do your research and buyer beware…

Beeger Boxes: I don’t know much about these.

JWorld: I don’t know much about these.

can’t think of any more off the top of my head, but there might be more!

also! as with any expensive, important purchase, be sure to research whichever you go with and make sure you’re not sacrificing quality for price, or choosing a sketchy, untrustworthy seller 🙂
