Your posts about conservation always brings to mind the Amur leopard and how it relates to the Siberian Tiger and the way that species “bounced back” due to conservation efforts. I hope they can do the same. I have a soft spot in my heart for big cats, and predators in general. Would you mind listing off a few less…. palatable species that could use our help? Things that normal people wouldn’t look twice at?

zoologicallyobsessed:

I could list off so many species and most of them are invertebrates, frog and fish species. There’s always a huge emphasis on endangered mammals compared to other taxa, so here’s a few that spring to mind:

  • Lord Howe Island stick insect (Dryococelus australis) Critically endangered due to invasive black rats

  • The Atlantic bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus) – Endangered and population declining due to unsustainable fishing practices
  • Southern corroboree frog (Pseudophryne corroboree) – Critically endangered due to chytrid fungi

  • Titicaca water frog (

    Telmatobius culeus) –

Critically endangered due to water pollution

Thank you!
